Rise Up 03:57
Rise up strong my girl To greet the yellow sun Go drink the morning dew Kick off your shoes and run She promised she’d return But when the day was done She said ‘I’ll stay right here Until the morning comes’ We will be waiting We’re waiting for you Rise up strong my girl To meet the coming wave Go climb the tallest tree Your home is with the brave She promised she’d return But when the web was spun She said I’ll stay right here Until my work is done We will be waiting We’re waiting for you We will be waiting We’re waiting for you Sticks and stones won’t break her bones While she is on the run I can see them laugh at me She said mother let me run Oh mother please let me run We will be waiting We’re waiting for you We will be waiting We’re waiting for you Sick of all the boys who come My body’s on fire and my head’s in the sun

Nightrider 03:33
If I took my blindfold off I’d need new eyes to see If I had new eyes I’d know that you were fooling me If you were fooling me I’d lie awake all night If I lie awake all night I’ll wake up bleary eyed If I woke up bleary eyed then you’ll stop loving me If you stop loving me I’ll lie awake all night Nightrider walk through my dreams nightrider If I lie awake all night I’ll spend my days in bed If I spend my days in bed then you’ll stop loving me If you stop loving me I’ll lie awake all night Nightrider walk through my dreams nightrider I will leave a light on for you, nightrider, nightrider If I took my blindfold off I’d need new eyes to see If I had new eyes I’d know that you were fooling me If you were fooling me I’d lie awake all night Nightrider walk through my dreams nightrider I will leave a light on for you nightrider nightrider

God Help Me 03:33
No I’m not afraid of the dark anymore No I’m not afraid of the end The wind and the rain they won’t stop me again And while I’m here even fear’s my friend It’s in my veins a river of blood As big as the sky an ocean of love It’s bigger than me it’s bigger than you No you know there’s no limit to what you can do Stop running away Stop running away Stop running away Because God help me I gotta get outta here I’ll take myself to the edge of the stratosphere I want it to start and I want it to end here All this self-pitying endless pretending we’re fine We’re out of time The cracks are showing and the cocks are crowing Because God help me I gotta get outta here Write another story and get a better publisher God help me I gotta get outta here God help me I gotta get outta here Gotta get outta here Gotta get outta here

Mr Jones 04:33
I’ve got your tattoo on my back High hopes on the floor I said goodbye to the moneyman Hey no I don’t care no more No I’ve got nothing to lose No there’s no one left to choose I’m with you I’m with you Hey Mr Jones I want to join your party No nuclear war no stigmatizing of the poor Now you’re nobody’s fool with nothing more to prove I’m with you I’m with you They tried to take away my rights They sent me off to water fights Race until the very bottom But now the winner’s out of sight Now I’ve got nothing to lose And nothing more to prove I’m with you I’m with you Hey Mr Jones I want to join your party No nuclear war no stigmatizing of the poor Now you’re nobody’s fool with nothing more to prove I’m with you I’m with you

about

Conceived long before the first lockdown was announced, we recorded this EP over two days of socially distanced live acoustic sessions this September. Written collectively, for us these songs are an invitation to hope, to connect, to exist within sadness and strength simultaneously and above all to keep creating.

From the lilting call-to-arms of Rise Up, through the dark prayer of Nightrider to the driving urgency and Elbow-like strings of God Help Me, it represents frustration, euphoria, loss and ultimately love, and we finish with Mr Jones – a love song to a fairer society.
